Welcome to your brand new Webpage ...

Excerpt from "The Bridgestone 100 Best Places to stay in Ireland 2007

Violet Connell's B&B is the most beloved of Irish bed and breakfast addresses, and a key West Cork destination.

If you were looking for an address that defines what we mean by Irish vernacular, then Fortview can scarcely be bettered.

The welcome is true, expansive, genuinely welcoming. The design style is individual, instinctive, focused on comfort. And the breakfasts, oh my, the breakfasts! It's common to hear Violet Connell's morning feasts described as 'the best breakfast in Ireland', a mighty accolade considering the stiff competition. But ... start with a compote of fresh oranges and marmalade, then proceed to Violet's own nut and grain muesli, then consider pancakes with maple syrup - that's the McKenna kids' choice - whilst the adults can't decide between potato cakes with smoked salmon, or maybe farmyard fresh eggs scrambled with chives, and all accompanied by beautiful fresh baked breads. Vernacular cooking raised to an art form, that's the Fortview breakfast, but it's also what Mrs Connell does with everything she puts her hand to in this most meticulous B&B. It's a dream destination in a dream location, a quintessential part of what makes West Cork West Cork.
